possessory warrant : The proceeding by possessory warrant is a summary remedy for the recovery of a personal chattel which has been taken by fraud, violence, enticement, or seduction from the possession of the party complaining or which, having been in his recent possession, has disappeared and is believed to be in the possession of the party complained against. The purpose of the proceeding is to protect and quiet the possession of property , but only as against acts which are inhibited by statute. – HCB
